TalentSee Video interview guidance

Been invited to a TalentSee video? That's great! Here are some general hints and tips to help you complete your video interview. Some of it may seem basic and obvious but as it might be your first video interview, we want to give you every opportunity to complete it successfully.

Before your interview

We recommend that you complete your video interview using one of the following –
Computer or Laptop (Mac or Windows) using the latest version of Chrome browser
Tablet or Mobile device using our iOS or Android app

Whichever device you choose it must have a front facing camera and a microphone (internal or external). The device should be set at the right height for the camera to show a good shot of your face and shoulders.

On a computer or laptop we recommend that you use the most recent browser version available (Chrome - preferred, Safari, Firefox or Internet Explorer).

On a Tablet or Mobile device you will need to download and install the ‘TalentSee App’ from either the Apple Store or Android Store (as appropriate). Once you have downloaded the app you will need to go back and click the link in your invitation email.

You will need a broadband or high-speed internet connection (a slow connection will reduce the quality of the video), if you are using a data connection then please be aware that the interview files are quite large and may therefore incur a costs from your mobile provider. On a Computer or Laptop you will need to stay connected to the internet for the duration of the interview. If you are using the ‘App’ (iOS or Android) you will need to be connected to the internet to download the interview, you can then complete your interview ‘offline’ but you will need to be connected to the internet to upload your completed interview.

When the interview loads our software will conduct an automatic check to see that all the minimum requirements are present and adequate.

Your environment

Be aware of your surroundings, especially the background, keep it neutral.

Ensure your room is well lit. Before the actual interview starts you will have the opportunity to answer a practice question, use this opportunity to check that everything is working as it should be and that you are happy with how you look in the video.

Be aware of audible distractions for you and your interviewer.

During the interview

Dress as you would for a face to face interview.

Try and maintain good posture, make eye contact with the camera, not down at the desk or table.

Treat this as you would a face to face interview, be enthusiastic and show you’re passionate in your answers.
